Carlton Main sign Trombone star

Carlton Main Frickley are delighted to announce the signing of young Trombone Star, Joe Heartfield.

Joe joins Carlton Main on Solo Trombone from Rothwell Temperance after 3 successful years with the Band. Joe has taken over the position from Matthew Brown who reluctantly stepped down from the position after relocating to Huntingdon.

Carlton Main’s MD, Ian McElligott was delighted the Band had been able to secure the signing of another fantastic young star ‘Firstly, I would like to thank Matthew for his time with the Band, it has been a real shame that it has been interrupted significantly by Covid but what Matthew has delivered on and off the stand has been fantastic and we all wish him well for the next chapter in his life in Huntingdon. As soon as we heard of Matthew’s decision there was only one person we wanted to sign and we’re all really excited that Joe has accepted our offer to join the Band. Joe is already a familiar face within the Band, playing Solo Trombone with us in 2019 in our 2nd place finish at Brass in Concert in 2019 so will fit straight into a fantastic section. Joe continues our ethos in signing young talent and we look forward to him leading the section for many years to come’.

Joe’s contest debut with the Band will be at next month’s Brass In Concert under the direction of Professional Conductor, Allan Withington, a prospect he is very excited for ‘I am very much looking forward to my time with Carlton Main and working with the great players they already have around the stand. I just wanted to thank everyone at the Rothwell Temperance Band for supporting me these past few years. I am so grateful for my time at Rothwell and only have happy memories to remember. Carlton Main have had some fantastic players in this seat over the years so I am honoured to now be in this position and can’t wait for the challenges ahead!’
